Hyundai Elite i20 Receives 41000 Bookings In 3 Months

The Hyundai Elite i20 generated 41,000 bookings within 3 months having delivered 20,000 units till date and is the highest number for any Hyundai car in India.

Hyundai sold 8093 units in September 2014, twice as much compared to 2013

Launched in August this year, Hyundai India has garnered over 41,000 bookings within two months for the all-new Elite i20 which is turning out to be the company’s most successful model in the country. Despite the marginal mark up in pricing, the new i20 seems to have taken the fancy of buyers with its stylish new design, an extensively long list of features and creature comforts as well as powerful yet frugal 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engine options, paired to a 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearbox respectively.

While the older generation Hyundai i20 averaged 3000-4000 units every month, Hyundai delivered 6627 units of the Elite i20 in the month of August, followed by 8903 units in September. With the rising popularity the sales for the Elite i20 are only expected to increase further in the following months. The Elite i20 receives a stylish new design featuring fluidic sculpture 2.0 philosophy that was developed at the company’s design centre in Russelsheim, Germany, while the car was engineered at Hyundai’s new engineering division at the Nurburgring circuit.

In addition to the hatchback version, Hyundai has also been working on a new Cross version of the Elite i20 that will be launched next year. Tucked under sub 4-metre mark, the new model will come with a raised ground clearance, rugged body cladding and even more features including projector headlamps, LED DRLs, roof rails and new alloy wheels. With the crossover segment gaining popularity with the likes of Fiat Avventura and Toyota Etios Cross, the Elite i20 Cross is also expected to find takers. Prices for the Elite i20 start at Rs. 4.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base petrol variant.
