Hyundai Unveils Elite i20 Sketches, Pre-Bookings Now Open [Video]

The wait for the next generation Hyundai i20 is finally coming to an end. The South Korean automaker has officially unveiled that new i20’s sketches, while the launch has been scheduled for 11th August in the country. Christened as ‘The Elite i20’, the hatchback was designed at Hyundai’s Motor Design Centre Europe in Russelheim, Germany and features the brand’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0’ design philosophy. The pre-bookings for the hatchback also commence from today with deliveries expected to start from the middle of the month.

Coming to the design, the second generation Hyundai i20 gets a completely new design language, compared to the outgoing model. The front fascia gets the company’s new signature hexagonal shaped grille and a new thin horizontal strip meets the headlamps. The hood is long and generously shaped to provide a powerful stance to the hatchback. The body lines on the i20 are clean and precise and look well sculpted. The side profile looks elegant with the dark treatment given to the C-pillars. The vehicle also look large but is under 4-metres in length.

The rear profile on the other hand looks quite premium with the wraparound rear window and boomerang shaped tail lights that give the i20 a distinctive look (the design seems to be inspired from the Veloster). The new i20 has also been completely revised from the inside with a plethora of features and improved quality on offer. The engine options will remain the same on the new i20 which include the 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engine options as well as the 1.4-litre diesel unit. Check out the teaser video of the next generation Hyundai i20.
