JCB Inaugurates Two New Facilities In Jaipur, Largest In India

The two new facilities in Jaipur is JCB’s single largest footprint in the country and will be producing construction equipments starting from 2015 for the Indian market.

The new plants will employ around 1000 people once full operations commence

Synonymous with construction equipment vehicles in India, JCB has launched two new manufacturing facilities in the country in Jaipur, Rajasthan, its single largest footprint till date in the country. First announced in 2012, the two new facilities were built in a record time with an investment of Rs. 500 crores and are the company’s fourth and fifth plants in India. With emerging markets showing positive signs in the construction sector, JCB is looking forward to long term demand in the Indian market as with the economy showing signs of improvement.

Constructed on 1 million square feet of land, the new facilities are spread over 115 acres and is located 35 kms away from Jaipur. At present the plants employ 160 people and the company will be recruiting a total of 1000 employees once the plant starts operating in full steam. The plant incorporates world class developments including water management, rainwater harvesting, solar power as well as daylight optimisation and has been designed in tandem with JCB’s global standards. Operations have commenced at one of the new facilities with component manufacturing underway, while production for the telescopic handlers and skid steer loaders will begin in 2015 for the Indian market. The new facility will also produce the backhoe loader from next year onward.

JCB will be producing two variants of the Telescopic Handler at the new plant

Telescopic Handlers – Also known as JCB Loadall, the company is offering two Telescopic Handler models in India which include the 530-70 and the 530-110. Both the models are powered by the JCB 448 4-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine producing 76 HP of power at 2200 RPM, paired to a 4-speed gearbox with integral torque convertor that sends power to all four wheels via the 4WD system. Both the models come with a capacity of 3 tonnes, whereas the height varies between 7-metres on the 530-70 and 11-metres on the 530-110.

The Skid Steer Loader is also available in 2 variants for the Indian market

Skid Steer Loaders – JCB is offering two variants of the Skid Steer Loader in India including the Robot 135 and Robot 155. Starting with the latter, the Robot 135 uses a Perkins 404D-22 engine producing 46 HP at 2600 RPM and comes with a maximum operating weight of 2770 kgs. The Robot 155 on the other hand uses a Perkins 404D-22T engine producing 57 HP of power at 2600 RPM and comes with a maximum operating capacity of 2900 kgs. The models are also regarded as the world’s safest Skid Steer Loader.

2015 will also see the Jaipur plant produce the Backhoe Loader available in 5 models

Backhoe Loader – JCB currently offers 5 variants of the Backhoe Loaders including the 2DX, 3DX, 3DX Xtra, 3DX Super and New 4DX models. The models are powered by a range of engine options with power outputs from 49.5 HP on the 2DX going up to 92 HP on the top-end 4DX model. The company also states that the new range of Backhoe Loaders are 8 percent more fuel efficient and come with the highest excavator digging depth in the industry of 5.5-metres.

In addition, JCB India also unveiled its 2,00,000th machine at the inauguration and is exporting 20 percent of its volumes from the country to 52 countries currently. Having completed 35 years of its presence in India, the company’s current distribution network comprises of 60 dealers and 600 outlets across the country. JCB’s other plants are located in Ballabhgarh, Haryana, and two in Pune, Maharashtra that manufacture 25 different machines in seven product lines such as Backhoe Loaders, Wheeled Loading Shovels, Tracked Excavators, Vibratory Compactors, Telehandlers, Skid Steer Loaders and Pick and Carry cranes. The Pune facility also includes a state-of-the-art design centre.
