Since a few months now, rumours of the Kawasaki Z800 going CKD with a price drop of Rs. 1.5 lakhs has been doing the rounds on the world wide web. Kawasaki in a statement, has denied this rumour and confirms the middle-weight bike will be fully imported as a CBU.

Kawasaki Z800 not going CKD any time soon, company has confirmed

Kawasaki, the Japanese mega brand is known for making monsters out of motorcycles. Their bikes are a perfect mix of performance and quality. The build quality speaks for itself. From WSBK to the Isle of Man, the Kwackers have proved to be pure bred performance machines. The new breed Kawasaki motorcycles has lived up to the heritage.

The Kawasaki Z800 was launched back in 2014 as a successor to Z750. This naked monster, with its killer looks and a powerful four-cylinder engine, is surely the best in its class. The 806cc Kwacker churns out upward of 113 PS of power and 83 Nm of torque. The Z800 does a 0-100 km/hr time of less than 4 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km/hr. The riding comfort is top notch.

In recent news, Kawasaki announced that there are no plans of the Z800 going CKD. In light of the rumours doing the rounds on media sites on the internet, Kawasaki wants to put to rest any speculation that has been created in the last couple of months. The Z800 has been part of the CBU models offered by Kawasaki and they would want it to remain that way. Kawasaki has also reduced the price of the ER-6n by Rs. 27,000/-.

Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of IKM said that there was never a plan to have the Z800 go CKD. Kawasaki always decides the assembly of models which is reasonable under CKD regulations. They do not see any positive outcome of going CKD in India with the Z800. The Z1000, Ninja 1000 and Z800 are not going to be part of CKD operations and will continue to be part of the CBU line-up, inspite of new rumours doing the rounds that the 1000 twins will be locally assembled.
