Kawasaki W175

The upcoming new motorcycle from Kawasaki might be the W175 that was spotted on test multiple times

Kawasaki is gearing up to launch a new motorcycle on 25th September and it might be the retro motorcycle, W175. When launched, it will turn out to be a niche offering in its segment with literally no competitors.

The Japanese maker has been testing the W175 for quite some time now. The motorcycle sports a round headlamp, teardrop fuel tank, well-padded seat, and old school tail light and indicators.

It rides on wire-spoked wheels that are wrapped with narrow tyres and even has a analogue instrument cluster and a sturdy grab rail. It gets shiny rims replete with rubber fork gaiters and circular mirrors.

Power comes from a 177 cc air-cooled motor. In southeast Asian markets, the engine features a carburettor and belts out 13.05 HP and 13.2 Nm. However, in India, it will be fuel-injected to meet BS6 emissions regulations and, thus, could put out more power.

The power figure should be sufficient for in-town commutes. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed transmission.

Sporting telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks, the Kawasaki W175 has a 220 mm disc brake at the front and 110 mm drum setup at the back. As a result, it will come with single-channel ABS.

The retro motorcycle will likely cost between Rs. 1.25 lakhs and Rs. 1.40 lakhs (ex-showroom) with high localisation, thus, becoming the cheapest Kawasaki in India.

It’s sure to excite Kwacker fans on a tight budget and those who want to a no-nonsense Japanese machine of the yesteryear something like the KB100. Who knows, many ex-KB owners might get the bike.
