The asking price of the Kia Carens rises till Rs. 16.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the top variants
Kia India has launched the Carens at an introductory price that starts from Rs. 8.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) today, 2 months after officially unveiling the 3-row vehicle.
The Korean carmaker had begun accepting bookings for the 3-row vehicle from January and claims to have received just over 19,000 orders thus far.
Called by Kia as a ‘recreational vehicle’ the Carens comes in a total of 5 variants namely Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. Multiple exterior colours will be on offer along with a dual tone cabin theme.
In terms of features, the car will come with LED lights, puddle lamps, Kia Connect (66 features), digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, 8-speaker BOSE sound system, electric sunroof, ambient lighting, electric double folding second row seats and more.
The Carens will also be offered with many useful touches like drive modes, 5 USB type-C ports, pop out cup holders, under-seat trays, seat back trays for the second row occupants, 50:50 folding third row seats and so on.
The engine options comprise a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol (115 PS and 144 Nm), a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol (140 PS and 242 Nm) and 1.5-litre diesel (115 PS and 250 Nm) unit.
All motors get a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, while the turbo-petrol can also be had with a 7-speed DCT with paddle shifters and, on the other hand, the diesel will also be teamed to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Kia, which will export the Carens to 90 countries from India, has equipped the car with 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, VSM, BAS, HAC, TPMS, disc brake on all wheels, among other safety tech as standard.
