Mahindra eXUV300 Launch In 2023, e2o To Make A Comeback!

Mahindra eXUV 300 3
The eXUV300 will rival the Tata Nexon EV

The market launch of the Mahindra eXUV300 should shake things up in the EV segment

Mahindra is likely to launch the eXUV300 in India by early 2023. But before, the utility vehicle major is expected to launch the eKUV100 in the market by the end of this year.

Spotted once again earlier this month, the eXUV300, which was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, is based on the XUV300’s platform. Due to it having an electric powertrain, it comes with subtle styling changes on the outside.

It will also ride on different alloys compared to its internal combustion twin. Stepping inside, customers will see a new drive selector, model-specific dials and a larger touchscreen.

The electric vehicle (EV) is expected to sport a 40 kWh battery pack and have a claimed range of around 400 km. The output of the Tata Nexon EV rival’s electric motor is not known yet.

As mentioned earlier, before the Mahindra eXUV300 launch takes place, the Scorpio maker is expected to introduce the eKUV100 in India within this year. The EV was also showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.

By 2027, Mahindra wants to have launched 8 EVs in India

Now in the final stages of development, the car is said to have had its own set of problems terms of range, the eKUV100 should have been put on sale at Rs. 8.25 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) in April 2020.

Mahindra had said the car will come with a 15.9 kWh battery pack, 150 km of range and a 40 kW (54 BHP) electric motor which would deliver a maximum of 120 Nm of torque.

Since it has been under development for an extended period of time, the EV could well come with more range, in the region of 250 km per charge. For that to happen, the battery pack must grow in size.

Interestingly, Mahindra is said to be looking at introducing the eKUV100 as the new e2o. With the launch of the eXUV300 and the eKUV100, Mahindra will be aiming to claim a chunk from Tata’s market share in the EV segment which currently stands at over 70 percent.
