Mahindra Marazzo AMT launch should make the MPV more appealing to buyers

Mahindra plans to launch the AMT variant of the Marazzo MPV, which it does not plan to discontinue anytime soon, later this year.

CEO of Mahindra (Automotive Sector), Veejay Nakra has recently stated that the Marazzo “is a product that will continue. We are not stopping that brand.”

Nakra also confirmed that Mahindra plans to introduce newer variants to the MPV lineup, the most prominent of which will be the AMT (AutoShift in Mahindra speak) variant.

The AMT should make the car a lot more desirable

Type approval documents of the Marazzo AMT have revealed that it will be offered in M2, M4+ and M6+ variants. Powering the model will be a 1.5-litre diesel engine that will make 121 HP in ‘Power’ mode and 98 HP in ‘Eco’ mode. The gearbox will be the same unit used in the XUV300.

Although it will cost more than the manual variant, AMT variant of the Marazzo should score highly on usability and the fuel economy should be very close to the MT variants as well.

Once the Mahindra Marazzo AMT launch takes place, the MPV should find more buyers than it does currently. While the Maruti Ertiga is fetching top figures every month, the same cannot be said about the Mahindra product and the carmaker will want to change that fact.
