Maruti Suzuki Says Grand Vitara Is E20 Compatible, To Appeal Consumer Court Order

Maruti Grand Vitara Dominion Edition

Maruti Suzuki India has responded to the recent Raipur consumer court ruling that asked the company to replace a customer’s Grand Vitara with a new E20-compatible vehicle. The company has now confirmed that it will challenge the decision in a higher court.

In its official statement, Maruti Suzuki said the Grand Vitara involved in the case was already E20 compatible and was designed to run on E20 petrol. It also pointed out that this information was clearly mentioned in the owner’s manual.

The company further claimed that the fuel sample collected from the customer’s car showed signs of contamination. According to Maruti Suzuki, this was an important factor in the case but was not reflected in the consumer commission’s order.

The case gained attention after the Raipur District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ruled in favour of the customer, directing Maruti Suzuki to replace the vehicle. If the replacement is not carried out, the company may have to compensate the customer instead.

Maruti Suzuki has maintained that the issue was not caused by E20 fuel compatibility and says it will now take the matter to a higher legal forum. The company also reiterated its commitment to quality, safety and customer satisfaction.

With Maruti Suzuki deciding to appeal, the case is far from over and could become an important one for both car buyers and manufacturers as E20 fuel becomes more common across India.
