Only 2 scooters have seen their sales grow over last May

Most of the models in the May 2021 scooter sales list did not have a good outing

The Honda Activa sits on top of the scooter sales list in May 2021 despite not performing like its usual self and only managing just over 17,000 unit sales.

Second-placed Suzuki Access 125 recorded sales of 9706 units, followed by the TVS Jupiter that found 6153 takers this past month.

TVS’ NTorq occupied the fourth spot in the May 2021 scooter sales chart, having recorded sales of 4337 units, while the Burgman Street (2745 units) came fifth.

Up next is Hero MotoCorp’s Pleasure+, with 2208 unit sales, and then the Honda Dio (1697 units) and TVS Scooty Pep+ (1609 units) were rather close when it comes to May 2021 sales.

Despite the way things were in May, the Burgman Street saw its sales grow YoY

The final 2 spots in the May 2021 scooter sales list were taken by 2 Yamahas. The Ray, which recently gained mild-hybrid tech, registered sales of 1060 units, and the Fascino (824 units), which will also feature the mild-hybrid tech, was tenth and last.

Of all the scooters in the list, only the Access 125 and Burgman Street posted year-over-year (YoY) sales growth. The rest had a dismal outing in May.

Overall, the scooters in the top 10 list registered sales of 47,345 units combined, which is less than what they could muster during the same period last year (64,827 units), resulting in a 27 percent YoY sales degrowth.
