The Classic Car Rally commemorated Mercedes’ victory in the 2014 F1 championship

Celebrating 120 years of motorsport heritage and the 2014 Formula One Championship win, Mercedes-Benz India organised a Classic Car rally on 9th November bringing together a range of vintage and heritage models from the iconic era to the streets of South Mumbai. Taking the city back in time, the rally travelled through some marvellous locations starting from NCPA Nariman Point where the cars were first put up on display, going up to Peddar Road, Horniman Circle and the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

Participating in the rally were some very interesting vintage cars that represented the illustrious history of Mercedes-Benz and included the Pontons such as the W120s as well as the W110 and W111 Fintails. In addition, there were also several examples of the iconic W108, W140 S-Class, W124, W126, 190 Series (W201), several SL models from different timelines, while the Mercedes Nurburg and the unique Unimog managed to garner a lot of attention. Adding to the vintage fun were the new age AMG monsters including the SLS AMG, ML63 AMG, SLK55 AMG and the youngest CLA45 AMG which also showcased the transition of performance in the Mercedes world, while maintaining the same DNA.

Having been a part of the history’s first motor racing in 1894, Mercedes has been aggressively involved in motorsport activities since the very early days. The automaker has been at a constant endeavour to bring in innovative technologies to the sport. Coming to the Formula One victory this year, the manufacturer won its first ever FIA Formula 1 World Constructors Championship title, while the 2014 Drivers’ title isn’t far either having won the Brazilian Grand Prix, the team’s eleventh one-two finish this season.
