MINI 3-Door Hatch, Convertible & John Cooper Works Hatch Launched, Priced From Rs. 38 lakhs

All three models are brought to the country as Completely Built-up Units (CBUs)

The price of the 2021 MINI 3-door hatch is considerably less than that of the other 2 models

MINI has launched the 2021 model year 3-door hatch in India with a price tag of Rs. 38 lakhs (ex-showroom), today.

The carmaker has also introduced the 2021 Convertible and John Cooper Works hatch which cost Rs. 44 lakhs and Rs. 45.50 lakhs (prices are ex-showroom), respectively.

Visually, the 2021 MINI 3-door hatch and the Convertible come with a new design. They feature a revised hexagonal radiator grille, new air intakes, round LED headlights, redesigned side scuttles with LED blinkers and tail lamps with British-flag-inspired graphics.

The 2021 MINI John Cooper Works hatch also gets the new hexagonal radiator grille which has a lateral red-coloured trim piece, bonnet stripes, contrasting paint finish for the roof and mirror caps, and revised aerodynamic features.

As standard the 3-door hatch and Convertible ride on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the John Cooper Works hatch comes with 18-inch rims.

In all, the 2021 MINI 3-door, Convertible and John Cooper Works hatch are available in 11 colours and they are – Island Blue (new), Rooftop Grey (new), British Racing Green, Chilli Red, Midnight Black, Moonwalk Grey, Pepper White, White Silver, Enigmatic Black (optional), Zesty Yellow (Convertible only) and Rebel Green (JCW).

Inside, there is a new multifunction steering wheel, new upholstery options, different interior trim, sports seats, an 8.8-inch touchscreen, Piano Black high-gloss surfaces, while a 5-inch instrument display is optional.

Also optional is the ‘Wired Package’ that brings comes with a navigation system, wireless charging, Bluetooth and multifunctional instrument display, while Apple CarPlay and Harmon Kardon speaker system are on offer too.

Further, the MINI Excitement Pack features LED interior and ambient lighting as well as a projection of the MINI logo from the driver-side exterior mirror.

There are new upholstery choices and interior trim

There are more features such as a head-up display, drive modes (MID, Sport and Green), cruise control, Park Assistant, rear view camera, auto start/stop, brake energy recuperation and active cooling air flaps as well.

When it comes to the powertrain, the 2021 MINI 3-door hatch and Convertible feature a 2.0-litre petrol engine making 192 HP and 280 Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a 7-speed DCT.

The 3-door hatch does the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 6.7 seconds, while the convertible does the same dash in 7.1 seconds.

On the other hand, the 2021 MINI John Cooper Works hatch comes with a maximum of 231 HP and 320 Nm of peak torque from the 2.0-litre petrol engine. It does the 0-100 km/hr run in 6.1 seconds and features an 8-speed Steptronic Sport Transmission.

In terms of safety tech, the 2021 MINI range features front passenger airbags, ABS, Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control, crash sensor, and rear-view camera as standard. The MINI Convertible features a Rollover Protection System for additional safety.
