MINI India Launch On 4th January

BMW’s MINI will official launch its vehicles in India on the 4th of January, 2012. The British brand has selected the eve of the upcoming Auto Expo as the time to announce its India foray. MINI will start selling the Cooper, Cooper S and Countryman in India initially and will trickle down more models in the future. The cars will be positioned as premium and will start at Rs. 25 lakhs. MINI does have a low cost entry level vehicle, the MINI One but that is not being considered for the India market. Being a lifestyle product, don’t expect frugal diesel engines to make it to the MINI, instead gas guzzling performance oriented engines will power the MINI cars.

Two new showrooms will be opened initially, one in Delhi and the other in Mumbai and slowly but steadily the dealerships will be expanded. BMW will also offer high level of customisation on the MINI, staying true to the fact that no two MINI vehicles are alike. A Facebook contest is being run to create awareness about the retro carmaker. The MINI India website is already up and has some interesting facts about the brand, which you can check out here.
