Next Gen Suzuki Swift Prototype Spied, Interior Snapped

The next gen Suzuki Swift has been spied yet again. While the exteriors were heavily camouflaged, we get a good look inside the car which gives away the updated interior. And it looks quite impressive indeed.

The car gets a new chunky steering wheel which should provide a good sporty feel

The Suzuki Swift is one of those cars that have managed to stay relevant in spite of the world around it moving forward. The performance still holds up among the other hatches in our country, and the Maruti badge of trust makes sure it still has decent sales even today. However, the car is now long due a proper update. That is exactly what Suzuki seem to have in mind with its next generation of the Swift.

While we have all been teased by the sleek looking renders, the 2017 Suzuki Swift has been spotted testing sporting tight camouflage on the roads. While it makes it difficult to judge the styling highlights of the car, recent images gave us a good look into the cockpit of the much awaited vehicle. Well, on first impressions I must say, I’m impressed. The fit finish and quality of the materials used look on point. There definitely is a sense of a sporty character in the cabin. The chunky steering wheel and the black finish of the dashboard adds to this appeal.

Make no mistake however, the dash still looks very much Suzuki with the circular vents and the centre infotainment display that is clearly borrowed from the lower variants of the Baleno and S-Cross. An interesting point to note is the battery status display in the instrument cluster. This points towards a possible hybrid powertrain option for the next gen Suzuki Swift. While that may not make it on to Indian roads, there are high chances that the Swift might get the 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine that will accompany the Baleno RS. The latter models may also get the 1.4-litre unit from the same family. The 1.3-litre Fiat diesel motor is set to be replaced by a Suzuki developed 1.5-litre unit.

The all new Suzuki Swift is set to be unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show that is to be held in March. The model will be officially launched worldwide later in 2017. We hope that India is included in the debut list for this car next year, as the Swift will sell in good numbers due to the Maruti tag, and the current gen Swift’s success.
