Nissan Gravite Name Confirmed: Compact 7-Seater MPV Set for India Launch in Early 2026
Renault and Nissan have been partners for years, and with the Renault Triber already well established in the Indian market, Nissan has realised that the compact seven-seater MPV segment is gaining traction and wants to tap into this growing demand with its own offering.
Nissan has officially confirmed the Gravite nameplate for its upcoming compact MPV for the Indian market. The new model will strengthen Nissan’s India portfolio and is scheduled to be unveiled in January 2026, with its market launch expected in March 2026.
The Nissan Gravite will be positioned below the Magnite in the brand’s India line-up and will target the affordable compact seven-seater MPV segment. Aimed at family car buyers looking for space and practicality at a competitive price point, the Gravite will rival models like the Renault Triber, which currently dominates this category.
Under the skin, the Gravite will be based on the CMF-A+ platform, sharing its underpinnings with the Renault Triber. The MPV will also measure under four metres in length, allowing it to benefit from Indian tax regulations while keeping costs in check. Powertrain options are expected to be carried over from the Triber, focusing on efficiency and ease of use.
In terms of design, the Nissan Gravite will retain the familiar proportions of the Triber but will feature Nissan-specific exterior updates to set it apart. These include a revised front bumper, a new grille and fresh alloy wheel designs. The headlamp shape is expected to be similar to the Triber’s, though with updated lighting elements for a distinct look.
At the rear, the Gravite will receive a reworked bumper, a new tail-lamp signature and Gravite badging, further differentiating it from its Renault sibling. While the overall silhouette remains practical and upright, these changes should help the MPV look more contemporary.
