Nissan Micra & Sunny Get LED DRLs In Thailand For MY2016

Updates on the Thailand spec Nissan Micra and Sunny include LED DRLs, new chrome garnish, steering mounted controls and a rear view camera with parking sensors.

Nissan has made no changes under the hood of the Micra & Sunny models

As part of the updates for the 2016 model year, Nissan Thailand has launched the refreshed March hatchback and Almera sedan in the South East Asian country. The Nissan March and Almera are essentially the Micra and Sunny sold in India and have received subtle revisions for the new year but no cosmetic or mechanical upgrades. Both the models share the same platform underneath and are locally manufactured at the automaker’s Samut Prakan facility in Thailand.

For MY2016, the Nissan Micra and Sunny gets new LED Diamond styled daytime running lights, steering mounted controls, USB and AUX ports and a rear view camera with parking sensors. The Almera also gets chrome garnish on the doors for a premium touch. In terms of mechanicals, both the models draw power from the same 1.2-litre four-cylinder ‘Pure Drive’ petrol engine tuned to produce 79 BHP of power, paired to a 5-speed manual and an Xtronic CVT automatic gearbox. Prices for the 2016 Nissan March starts from 5,18,500 Baht (approx. Rs. 9.44 lakhs), while the 2016 Almera starts from 5,43,000 Baht (approx. Rs. 9.89 lakhs).

We expect the updates to eventually trickle down on the India spec models as well by next year. Meanwhile, Nissan India is working on ramping up its dealer network and plans to have around 230-240 outlets by March 2016 from the current 200 spread across 124 cities. The new dealerships are part of the company’s three-pronged strategy of having more products, more customers and more customer touch points. The automaker is also working on introducing the new generation X-Trail in India soon in the premium SUV space and could make an announcement within a month on the topic.
