Range Rover Velar Review Test Drive

Jaguar Land Rover India wants to add another vehicle to their CKD list with the Velar.

Range Rover Velar is set to become more affordable

The Tata owned British company, Jaguar Land Rover India, is planning to assemble the Range Rover Velar in India locally. The company will adopt the CKD route and assemble the car at their assembly plant in Pune. This move could decrease the price of the Range Rover Velar by a whopping Rs. 10-14 lakhs.

JLR has brought in several vehicles to India via CKD route, some of them include the Jaguar XJ, Land Rover Evoque and most recently the Jaguar XF sedan. After bringing in the Range Rover Velar to India, the company could also bring Land Rover Discovery for local assembly.

The base P250 variant is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine which churns out 248 BHP and 365 Nm of torque. While the P300 top end petrol model makes 296 BHP and 400 Nm of grunt. The diesel version has two variants as well, namely the D180 and the D300. The former is powered by a 2.0-litre engine that makes 178 BHP and 430 Nm of torque while the latter uses a 3.0-litre engine which generates 296 BHP and a massive 700 Nm of torque.

The present price of the Velar starts from Rs. 83.30 lakhs and goes all the way to Rs. 1.34 crores. Although this price is expected to drop once the SUV comes to India via CKD. The price range is expected to start from Rs. 65-70 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom).
