Renault India To Start Third Shift For Kwid Production In June

2015 Renault Kwid Test Drive Review

After seeing a great demand and an overwhelming response for the Kwid, Renault India has prepared itself to start the third shift of production at the Renault-Nissan Oragadam plant, near Chennai.

Renault to ramp up the production to 10,000 units per month

Within seven months of the Kwid’s launch, Renault has got bookings in excess of 1,25,000 units, with a waiting period of three months. Seeing the increased demand in both domestic and global markets, Renault has geared up to increase the overall annual production. To meet with the accelerated demand, a third shift of production will start in June.

Having done a sale of 9500 units in April, the company is still witnessing strong bookings. Renault has already delivered 50,000 cars to customers and with the increase in production, the waiting period will come down drastically.

Renault India has currently installed a capacity of 4,80,000 units at its manufacturing facility at Oragadam in Chennai. Due to annual maintenance, the production has been halted for a short while. New set of employees have been added at the factory, who are being trained to operate in the third shift of production.

After a grand success of its hatchback, the company has forayed into the pre-owned car business with Renault Selection, with the launch of its first outlet in Bangalore. It even plans to open outlets in Jaipur, Nagpur and Chandigarh. The company envisages to open 20 used car outlets by the end of this year and even aims to hit over 50 used car dealerships by the end of next year.
