Renault Nissan partnership to be reshaped, India will be their key market

Renault and Nissan are planning a revamped partnership. The French and Japanese carmakers will join hands again for new projects in the Indian market as well as Latin America and Europe.

The automakers are preparing to pump in fresh investments for this alliance. They have come up with a deal of late that restructures their two-decade old partnership. Both the carmakers will have an equal footing in terms of shareholding. Nissan is investing in Renault’s new electric vehicle unit.

Both the carmakers are currently evaluating the vehicles that they could launch from 2025. One of the most important products they will get with this partnership is the Renault Duster.

Yes, the Renault Duster will make a comeback in an all-new generation avatar, not the one currently on sale in the international market. It will be heavy localised in India and will come with an all-new styling and new features on offer. The same product will be shared with Nissan via cross-badging strategy.

The alliance aims to increase plant utilisation rates and reduce costs. They will restart cross-badging and sharing the products. The official announcement is expected to be made by next week.
