The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Scrambler is expected to be launched in early 2019.
A test bike of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Scrambler was spotted in Pune during a supposed testing process. Spied at a dealership on June 2018, it is believed to be an official prototype of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Scrambler.
The motorcycle had a new upswept exhaust and knobby off-road tyres. The telescopic forks with rubber gaiters are present to keep it away from sand and dust.
The supposedly factory-new Royal Enfield Classic 500 Scrambler model also has a raised handlebar with a centre brace. Instead of a pillion seat, it has a rear parcel pack.
The bike shows scrambler characteristics with the short scrambler-style fenders in the front and the rear. The photos all suggest the possibility of the Classic 500 Scrambler coming with an ABS unit.
While changes in the power numbers aren’t to be expected, Royal Enfield may be offering a different tuning, used revised sprocket sizes or gearing ratios.
The bike houses a single-cylinder, 499cc, air-cooled motor which has a capacity for generating maximum power at 27.5 PS and a peak torque of 41.3 Nm, which is paired with a 5-speed transmission. Before April 1, 2020, ABS will be standard on the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Scrambler.
The bike is expected to be launched by early 2019. It will be priced at around Rs. 1.89 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will have no direct competition if launched in India.
