Second-Gen Maruti Vitara Brezza To Feature 6-Speed Auto Gearbox

Maruti Vitara Brezza 11
The new model will be unveiled later this year

The upcoming 2022 Maruti Vitara Brezza will sport a 6-speed automatic gearbox instead of the 4-speed auto box that does duty in the current model.

Set to be unveiled later this year, the second-generation Vitara Brezza is among several new crossovers from Maruti that will be put on sale over the course of the next couple of years.

Said to be based on the HEARTECT platform, the compact SUV will have a fresh styling on the outside and inside, while also offering more features in order to keep up with the rising competition.

Thus, the country’s top carmaker is set to equip the car with a larger touchscreen in comparison with the current model’s 7-inch item, latest connectivity tech, wireless device charger, a sunroof, among others, while the dashboard will be completely redesigned and there should be better quality interior trim as well.

When it comes to the powertrains that will be on offer, the current 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine good for 103 HP and 138 Nm of torque will be carried forward, but there will be a better hybrid tech this time around. A 1.5-litre diesel engine option will be there too.

The 2022 Maruti Vitara Brezza gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The latter is most likely to be offered only with the petrol variants of the compact SUV. The current model’s 4-speed automatic gearbox will be shown its way out.

In terms of safety Maruti Suzuki will equip the next-generation Vitara Brezza with up to 6 airbags, while ABS, EBD, ISOFIX anchor points, among others should be present as well.

When it goes on sale in 2022, the compact SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV300, among several others.

It should build on the success of the current model
