Skoda Karoq India Launch In Mid 2020

2017 Skoda Karoq SUV

Skoda will place the Karoq below the Kodiaq in its line-up in the Indian market.

The car will be launched in mid-2020 and will be brought via the CBU route

Skoda Karoq India launch will take place in mid-2020 as we expect the Czech automaker to get the car via the CBU route. The government has relaxed the rules for vehicles imported as a CBU and has therefore been the favour of the company to get the Karoq to India.

The regulation passed by the Indian government allows companies to import 2500 units of passenger vehicles a year without homologation. Therefore, the Czech brand can get the Karoq to India with a very little or no investment. This will help the company to test the waters in the market and then decide whether to localise the production of the vehicle or not.

The 5-seater Karoq SUV is underpinned by the company’s MQB platform and will borrow some mechanical and technical bits from the Volkswagen Tiguan. The car will boast a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine making 148 BHP and 250 Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre oil burner which will make 148 BHP and 340 Nm of torque. These engines are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
