Tata Harrier BS6 Ready Diesel Engine Spied
The 2.0-litre Multijet II oil burner will be powering the Harrier and Compass

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be the first model in India that will feature the BS6 compliant 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel engine. This engine will also find its way on the Tata Harrier as well as some other versions of the Jeep Compass.

The work on fine-tuning the engine is underway for both the Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier. The Compass and Harrier have been spotted on test but in different camouflage.

The BS6 compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine will produce around 173 BHP on the Jeep Compass, whereas on the Tata Harrier, the power output will receive a major jump from the current 140 BHP to 170 BHP. The 7-seater Tata Buzzard will also feature the BS6 ready 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel engine.

SUVs from Jeep and Tata also share the same FCA derived 6-speed manual transmission. However, these manufacturers are expected to make/source their own automatic transmissions. Tata will use a Hyundai sourced 6-speed torque converter AT, whereas Jeep will use a 9-speed torque converter AT for the Compass Trailhawk.
