SsangYong Tivoli XLV Unveiled At Geneva Motor Show, Gets Extra Boot Space

The SsangYong Tivoli XLV has the same wheelbase of 2600 mm as found on the regular compact SUV because the extra length is added after the C-pillar.

The Tivoli XLV is based on the same platform as the regular compact SUV

SsangYong has unveiled the Tivoli XLV at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and it is the extended version of the automaker’s flagship compact SUV. It was first showcased under the name of XLV Air Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year and after looking at the overwhelming response, the company decided to go for production.

The SsangYong Tivoli XLV is 238 mm longer than the regular compact SUV which translates into an increased boot capacity of 720-litres. What took us by surprise is the fact that the Korean automaker did not add any extra seats which would not have been a task too difficult with the added length.

The wheelbase of 2600 mm is exactly same as the standard variant because the extra length is added after the C-pillar while it is built on the same chassis. The rear seats are claimed to be big enough to accommodate three fully-grown adult passengers with utmost comfort due to the flat floor and 23.5 degrees inclined seats.

The SsangYong Tivoli XLV will be powered by the same 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines producing 128 PS and 115 PS respectively while mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. A selectable all-wheel drive system will also be on offer with the top-end variants and it will be launched in Europe and other countries in May.
