Sub 4-Metre Mahindra Verito Launch On 25th July

You read it first on MotorBeam. Mahindra will finally launch the Verito compact sedan on the 25th of July, 2012. The Indian utility maker has finished testing of the vehicle and is currently shooting the TV commercial of the car, which will again feature Mr. Verito man in it. The sub 4-metre Mahindra Verito will be priced very aggressively, owing to the lower duties it attracts. The vehicle will take on the Tata Indigo CS and the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, both of which are compact sedans, measuring less than 4-metres in length.

The new Mahindra Verito will also receive slight updates to the exteriors. The vehicle will feature a revised front and rear section to make things fresh on erstwhile Logan. Minor changes have been made to the interiors as well which will freshen up things on the inside. Mechanically the new Verito will remain similar to the outgoing model, with power coming in from the 1.5-litre dCi diesel motor which produces 65 BHP of power output and 160 Nm of torque output. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Sales of the Verito have dropped drastically every month and Mahindra is bringing in the facelift at the very right time. The company sold 1501 units of the Verito in April, 943 units in May and just 444 units last month. The Verito is also the least selling Mahindra vehicle, in-spite of being the cheapest Mahindra vehicle on sales today. The old Verito (measure more than 4-metres in length) will be pulled out of the market entirely. Mahindra will be targeting fleet operators and plans to offer the Verito with alternative fuels as well.

Update – The launch is not of the sub 4-meter but of the facelift. The sub 4-meter Verito will come in later this year.
