Suzuki Alivio Concept Is Production Version Of Ciaz At Beijing Auto Show

Suzuki China revealed the near production version of the Maruti Ciaz in the form of the Alivio Concept that made its debut at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show today. The Ciaz (pronounced as chii-aaz) was showcased in the form of the Authentics concept last year, while in India it was showcased as the Concept Ciaz earlier this year at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. The Alivio concept on the other hand gets more production ready design cues and lines that we will be seeing on the Ciaz, when launched later this year.

The Alivio Concept measures 4545 mm in length, 1730 mm in width and 1475 mm in height. Replacing the SX4 in the C-segment sedan space, the Ciaz has significantly improved with a much better looking exterior design, the interiors are expected to be spacious featuring a host of goodies. The Alivio concept much like the Ciaz looks very sporty; carrying Suzuki’s new design language with the all-chrome grille and the wraparound headlight units. The company states the new design language has been adapted keeping a Sporty and Noble theme with smooth curves and sharp character lines.

Suzuki has confirmed that the Ciaz will be powered by a 1586cc, 16-valve, DOHC, 4-cylinder petrol engine with a newly developed 6-speed transmission that offers improved fuel efficiency. In India, the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine and the 1.4-litre K14M petrol motor are most likely to make an appearance, when the sedan goes on sale during the festive season later this year. Suzuki states that the sedan’s tuning and handling has been done from the driver’s seat as well as the rear seat to achieve a confident and comfortable setting.
