Look What Suzuki Is Testing After A Hiatus, Its The Burgman Electric!

Suzuki should introduce the scooter with a competitive real world range

The Suzuki Burgman electric has been spotted yet again on Indian soil

Suzuki Motorcycle India’s upcoming electric scooter based on the Burgman has been spotted once again as on-road testing of the 2-wheeler continues in the country.

This particular test mule did not wear any camouflage and looks identical to development mules of the scooter that were seen as early as January last year.

The Japanese brand has developed the electric scooter to the point that it looks ready to be mass-produced even when going by these images, which admittedly are not of the best quality.

Visually, the recently spotted Suzuki Burgman electric scooter is very similar to the petrol-powered Burgman Street 125. However, being battery-powered, the test mule does have some new parts.

It should prove to be a good urban commuter

For example, the electric version of the maxi-style scooter has twin rear shocks to cope with the additional weight an electric vehicle’s (EV’s) battery pack brings with it. In addition, the scooter also has a different rear fender and tyre hugger setup.

Sporting a White with Blue dual tone paint scheme, the Burgman Electric is expected to come with a Lithium-ion battery pack with capacity of 3 to 4 kWh. Its electric motor could have a rating of 6 kW or thereabouts.

Like most scooters of this day and age, the EV is also set to come with a digital dash. Whether this will be a touchscreen or not is unknown. But, there should be smartphone connectivity and other new age features on offer.

Since the Japanese firm has been testing the electric scooter for quite some time now, one can expect its official unveil to take place sometime this year. Of course, the electric Burgman will have to deal with rivalry from established scooters and upcoming ones in the fledgling EV market.
