Volkswagen Virtus GT Gearbox
The more performance-oriented Virtus GT will be an auto-only model

The Volkswagen Virtus GT will not get the 6-speed manual gearbox option

Volkswagen will not offer a manual transmission option for the Virtus GT ‘Performance Line’ model. The C-segment sedan’s 1.5-litre variant will be DSG-only from launch.

While it was perceived that the Virtus will get both the 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG gearbox choices for the grades powered by the 4-cylinder motor, the German marque has decided otherwise.

The reasoning behind such a decision could be to try and position the Virtus GT as the more sportier alternative to the Slavia, which gets the same engine options, as the Volkswagen car.

It goes without saying that the ‘Performance Line’ variant of the Virtus comes with cosmetic differences so as to help it stand out from the 1.0-litre variants of the car which are part of what Volkswagen calls the ‘Dynamic Line’.

The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol which features cylinder deactivation technology makes a maximum of 150 PS and 250 Nm and potential customers who preferred the Virtus in comparison to the Slavia are bound to be disappointed with Volkswagen’s decision to omit the manual option.

One can only hope that the German marque changes its mind and decides to offer a manual transmission option for customers who purchase the Virtus GT.
