Why Tata Doesn’t Make Good Safari Ads Any More?

Tata Motors and Mahindra are known for coming up with attention-grabbing commercials for their vehicles. Talking about Tata Motors here, everything right from the tiny Nano to the humongous Safari have had interesting TV commercials. The Safari, which was introduced to the market way more than a decade back has had very good advertisements but then it seems Tata Motors started losing the plot slowly and went on to make commercials that don’t really appeal to the heart like the older ones did.

The attached video shows all the commercials for the Safari right from 2002 to 2009. Most of these have a common message, “Reclaim Your Life”. This line is quite catchy and it gels well with the overall theme of these videos that show how a person’s life would become all interesting and something to look forward to, after getting a Safari. These commercials really touched the hearts of many and it may not be wrong to say that there would be a significant number of people who considered buying or even just having a look at the vehicle after watching the commercials.

So, while the older commercials are aimed directly at the heart, the new ones simply cannot match the way the old videos impressed us. Sure, one of the latest commercials of the Safari Storme shows the SUV’s off-roading prowess, but it still lacks a catchy punch line or a story line that the older advertisements had. What we intend to say is that the commercials churned out by Tata’s marketing department now are not as good as the ones that were rolled out earlier. What may be wrong? Out of ideas? New story writers? Anything else?
