Tata HBX Teased, Prices To Start Under Rs. 5 Lakhs

Tata HBX Teaser

Tata Motors has teased the HBX for the first time, production name confirmed.

Tata HBX officially teased, launch expected during this festive season. The Indian carmaker revealed the micro-SUV in its concept form as Tata H2X at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

Soon after the exhibit, they showcased the near-production model with the name Tata HBX at the 2020 Auto Expo. Finally, they have released a teaser confirming the production name of the car as HBX.

The entry-level SUV was expected to hit the market by mid-2020. However, due to the pandemic and the huge disruption in production and supply chain issues, the car got delayed by a year!

It was spotted recently shedding some camouflage, revealing the new marketing colour

The teaser reveals the new blue marketing colour, which we have seen recently in some spy shots. It looks like a mini Harrier from the front profile having a similar headlight and DRL setup.

The production version will look very similar to the HBX concept showcased at the Auto Expo but with some toned down aesthetics.

The HBX will get cladding across the lower-half of the body. Tata will be offering ‘diamond cut’ alloys for the range topping variants. You can also expect a floating roof styling along with dual tone colour options with this micro SUV.

It has a generous ground clearance considering the size of the car

The car will be positioned under the Tata Nexon and will be based on the modular ALFA platform shared with the Tata Altroz.

We have seen some interior spy shots before and we noticed a floating touchscreen infotainment system, digital analogue instrument cluster, square air con vents and the latest steering wheel design.

It is expected to get a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine along with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol. There will be no diesel engine on offer. Transmission options will include both manual and AMT.

The Indian carmaker is expected to set a starting price of sub Rs. 5 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Tata HBX will compete against the Maruti Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 and the upcoming Hyundai AX1 micro SUV.
