Exclusive: Tata Safari Facelift Spotted Testing For The First Time

The redesigned grille gets silver elements

Tata Safari facelift could get a lot of high-tech features like ADAS, 360 degree camera, and bigger infotainment system

A test mule of the upcoming Tata Safari facelift has been spied testing for the first time. While the car is heavily camouflaged, we can make out some updates on the outside. The facelift might be launched during the upcoming festive season or by the end of this financial year.

The test mule was clicked by MotorBeamer Maaz Ahmed.

At the front, the first thing that’s noticeable is the updated grille. It has unique silver finished holes against the quilted pattern of the outgoing model. The eyebrow DRLs merge into the grille quite sharply. The lights are sleeker too.

The headlamp housings are more rounded now and fuse with the bumper well. The fog lamps and the 2-piece bottom grille, however, look the same as before. The roof rails are camouflaged and might be a adorned with a new shade.

At the rear, the brushed silver finish on the bumper is missing on the test mule. Maybe, it will be added during production. Rest all the aspects look the same as before though fully hidden. The protruding LED tail lamps have a polarising look from certain angles.

The rear looks almost unchanged

For the first time, the facelifted Safari and Harrier might get a petrol heart thanks to aggressive price tags given by Mahindra for the petrol variants of the Scorpio N and XUV700. The petrol engine could make the Safari a little more affordable.

In addition, the facelifted Tata will get many sophistications and creature comfort features. Some of them could be the much-needed ADAS, 360 degree camera, ventilated seats, and bigger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Currently, the Safari is powered by the lone Stellantis-sourced 2-litre Kryotec diesel engine that produces 167.7 HP and 350 Nm peak. The can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
