Tata Tiago iCNG & Tigor iCNG Launched, Priced From Rs. 6.10 Lakhs

Tata has taken this opportunity to refresh the top-spec XZ+ grades of the cars

The asking price of the Tata Tiago iCNG rises till Rs. 7.65 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Tata has launched the Tiago iCNG at a starting price of Rs. 6.10 lakhs and the Tigor iCNG with a base cost of Rs. 7.70 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi and introductory), today in India.

Both cars come powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine that makes 73.4 PS at 6000 RPM and 95 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM when fed with CNG. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Running on petrol, the same engine makes 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque. Speaking of which, the 35-litre petrol tank of the cars has not been touched. In addition, they come fitted with a 60-litre CNG tank. Tata says the hatchback and the compact sedan can cover 300 km on CNG power alone.

Tata’s iCNG cars can be started in both petrol and CNG modes, have an auto switchover (between fuels) feature, and for safety, the brand has ensured that the motor cannot be started unless the fuel lid is closed.

The cars ride on 14-inch steel wheels with 175/65-section rubber, the spare is a 13-inch wheel

Tiago iCNG –

Weighing between 1040 kg and 1087 kg, which is more than the petrol-manual version that comes in at 935 kg to 982 kg, the Tiago iCNG is offered in XE, XM, XT and XZ+ grades.

The revised XZ+ variant of the hatchback now comes with projector headlamps, LED DRLs and chrome embellishments on the exterior. The car can be had in a new Midnight Plum colour and the Pearlescent White paint option will be replaced with Opal White.

The top-spec variant comes with a revised cabin theme

Inside, the top variant sports a black and beige dual tone theme with features like a digital instrument cluster, 7-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, auto-folding ORVMs, rear parking camera and much more.

Due to the iCNG model of the Tiago weighing more, its suspension has been retuned and the ground clearance has reduced by 2 mm to 168 mm.

Tigor iCNG –

Featuring goodies like rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, blacked roof, new dual tone black and beige interior and a fresh seat fabric, the XZ+ Tigor in both petrol and CNG forms comes with loads of features.

With the inclusion of the CNG tank, boot space has taken a hit

The compact sedan has gained a new Magnetic Red shade, while the Pearlescent White colour has been replaced by Opal White paint option.

Due to CNG tank, the Tigor iCNG (offered in XZ and XZ+ trims) weighs between 1092 kg and 1126 kg, while the petrol-manual version of the car weighs in the range of 992 kg and 1024 kg. Also, the CNG version of the compact sedan has 5 mm less road clearance at 165 mm.

As standard, the cars come with a warranty of 2 years or 75,000 km (whichever is earlier) and safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Corner Stability Control (CSC).
