Tata Tigor, Tiago Get Apple CarPlay

Tata Tiago and Tigor come with the new infotainment system update that features Apple CarPlay now.

The infotainment system has been updated with Apple CarPlay

The Tata Tiago hatchback and Tigor compact sedan’s range topping variants now get both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity apps on their touchscreen infotainment systems. This support for Apple CarPlay means that the Tata infotainment is as compendious as the Maruti SmartPlay infotainment system in terms of features.

Last year, Tata had updated both the vehicles with the latest touchscreen system that offered Android Auto but didn’t support Apple CarPlay. The cars were updated from a 5-inch touchscreen system to a 7-inch touch infotainment system that lacked Apple CarPlay. Tiago NRG, Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP are still offered with the older 5.0-inch display unit that lacks smartphone connectivity.

Apart from this update, there are no changes in the Tiago and Tigor. Both models are available with two engine options – a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that produces 84 BHP of power and 114 Nm of torque and a 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine that produces 69 BHP of power and 141 Nm of torque. Both engines feature 5-speed manual transmissions. The petrol version is also available with a 5-speed AMT on select variants.

In the market, the Tiago hatchback goes up against the likes of the Hyundai Santro and the Maruti Wagon R, that get almost identical infotainment systems with both Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto. Whereas the Tigor is also now on level terms with the Maruti Dzire, Ford Aspire and Honda Amaze in terms of infotainment systems.
