Toyota has set a premium asking price for the Hilux in India

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the Hilux at a base price Rs. 33.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) today in India. All variants of the pickup truck come with 4-wheel drive as standard.

Available in colours such as Emotional Red, Grey Metallic, Silver Metallic, Super White and White Pearl, the lifestyle utility vehicle has rugged styling and enough features to keep customers pleased.

The base variant of the double cab model comes with halogen headlamps and tail lights, LED fog lamps, electrically adjustable ORVMs with LED indicators, chromed exterior door handles and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The pickup trick has a 60:40 split, tip-up rear bench

Inside, there is a multifunctional steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustment, fabric seats (manual adjustment for driver seat), cooled upper glovebox, smart entry with push start/stop and electrochromic IRVM.

Features such as a semi-digital instrument cluster, 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 6 speakers, Park Assist (back monitor, and front and rear sensors) and cruise control are also present.

The top variant gets full LED lights, lots of chrome trim on the outside and inside, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, electrically adjustable driver seat and dual zone auto air-con with second row air vents.

It comes with double wishbone suspension up front and leaf springs in the rear (rigid axle)

The car is powered by a 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine that produces a maximum of 204 HP. When teamed to the 6-speed manual gearbox, the torque output is capped at 420 Nm, while with the 6-speed auto, torque is raised to 500 Nm.

Both transmissions come teamed to a 4-wheel drive system with high (H4) and low (L4) range. The car also has an auto limited-slip differential (LSD), electronic differential lock (EDL), active traction control (A-TRAC), as well 2 drive modes (Eco and Power).

Based on Toyota’s Innovative Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform, the Hilux can ford rivers up to 700 mm deep, and comes with technology like electronic drive control, tyre angle monitor and Downhill Assist Control (DAC).

Globally, the Hilux’s sales has taken place in over 180 countries and has surpassed 2 crore units

For safety, the Hilux has 7 airbags, Child Restraint System (CRS), ABS, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with Brake Assist (BA) and Hill Assist Control (HAC).
