Toyota Vios Spotted Testing In Bangalore

New test mules of the Toyota Vios sedan have been spotted roaming in streets of Bangalore. Toyota has not announced any prior plans for launching the executive C-segment sedan in the country.

The car caught testing was devoid of any kind of badging

Toyota has been selling just one mass market sedan in India and that is the Etios. The Etios is a basic sedan which is known for its utilitarian nature. The vehicle has received decent responses from the masses but it is doing really well in the fleet market. Toyota has another sedan, the Vios, in its kitty and this one offers a more premium feel.

A new test mule of the Toyota Vios has been spotted doing the rounds in Bangalore. The car did not have any visible testing equipment attached to it and was devoid of any kind of ‘Toyota’ or ‘Vios’ badging. It was also observed that the car has a completely beige interior along with a nice infotainment system.

If launched in India, the car will be slotted above the Etios sedan and below the Corolla, clashing head-on with its Japanese counterparts Maruti Ciaz and Honda City. Earlier, reports had suggested that Toyota has put on hold its plans for launching the Vios in India and will instead focus on the next generation Etios which will heavily borrow its design cues from the current generation Vios. The present Vios has been in production since 2013 and is soon due for a generation change.

The Toyota Vios sedan is a C-segment sedan sold primarily in South East Asia and Australia, measuring 4410mm in length and having a wheelbase of 2550mm. The car is powered by a range of 1.3litre to 1.5-litre petrol engines mated to a 5-speed manual or a 7-step CVT gearbox. The car is also equipped with VSC and ABS with EBD.
