Bajaj keeps Triumph and KTM bike prices steady despite GST hike

While most two-wheeler manufacturers are revising prices following the recent increase in GST on motorcycles above 350cc, Bajaj Auto has opted to maintain the current pricing for its locally manufactured Triumph and KTM models.

The GST rate on high-capacity motorcycles has risen from 31 percent to 40 percent, a move that typically results in price hikes across the segment. However, Bajaj has decided to absorb the additional cost rather than passing it on to customers. This decision is expected to strengthen the appeal of Triumph and KTM offerings against competitors such as Royal Enfield, which may see higher price tags for its larger motorcycles.

Bajaj has confirmed that its sub-350cc motorcycles will continue to reflect the revised GST rates. Yet, in a strategic move, the company has ensured no change in the pricing of Triumph’s 400cc models and KTM’s 390cc range. Though the manufacturer has not indicated how long this pricing strategy will remain in effect, it is likely to attract greater customer interest in showrooms.

Current prices remain as follows: the Triumph Speed 400 continues at Rs. 2.5 lakh, while the Speed T4 stays at Rs. 1.99 lakh. The Triumph Scrambler range is positioned between Rs. 2.68 lakh and Rs. 2.94 lakh, with the new Thruxton 400 available at Rs. 2.74 lakh.

On the KTM side, the 390 Duke is listed at Rs. 2.97 lakh, the RC 390 at Rs. 3.23 lakh and the Enduro R at Rs. 3.39 lakh for the India-spec variant (Rs. 3.53 lakh for the global-spec with enhanced suspension). Among adventure models, the 390 Adventure X costs Rs. 3.04 lakh, while the 390 Adventure is priced at Rs. 3.68 lakh.

This pricing approach effectively places the KTM 390 Adventure X below the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 in affordability, and the Triumph Speed 400 ahead of the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 in terms of value proposition.
