TVS Apache 200 Adventure Tourer Spotted In Indonesia

A TVS Apache 200 Adventure Tourer has been spotted in Indonesia. While the mechanical components seem to have stayed intact, the bike has been visually modified to fit an adventure tourer persona.

The Adventure tourer is based on the TVS Apache RTR 200-4V FI

While we would be more than pleased if TVS decided to go down that path one day, but it doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon. Earlier this week, a TVS two-wheeler was spied in Indonesia in an adventure tourer guise, which got everyone talking and speculating about any possible releases. Our hopes were soon shot down when it was revealed that the motorcycle in question was a customised Apache 200 4V. The customisation was done by a custom house in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The motorcycle was spied while being carried on a flatbed pickup truck. While the bike is in fact based on the Apache 200-4V FI, there have been many changes made, to give the bike a touring feel and utility, rather than just the look. Up front we have a half-fairing which sports a tall windshield for wind protection. The fairing has been neatly crafted to house the led indicators which seem to be the stock ones from the Apache 200. Reportedly, a 12V charging socket has been provided in the instrument cluster to charge your electronic devices. Right behind the fairing we have a Delta-box decal. A chassis overhaul being highly unlikely, it is probably just there to enhance the visual appeal. The handle bars get knuckle guards which are a welcome addition.

No touring package is complete without the addition of saddle bags. For this, the bike gets two Givi panniers at the rear. The pillion seat and the grab handles remain stock. Just like the delta box decal, the bike also sports a dubious looking swing-arm. Again, this could be a piece of fibre bolted on the stock setup for added appeal. As for mechanical changes, there don’t seem to be any. The Apache RTR 200 4V FI, on which the mod is based, gets a single cylinder engine which makes 20.7 HP of power and 18.1 Nm of torque. This comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine is capable enough to be used for touring purposes, however, an additional tall 6th gear would enhance its touring capabilities.

Overall the bike does come off looking rather handsome. On the mechanical front however, tweaking the suspension to a softer setting, wider comfortable seats, an engine tweak for higher torque, and tall gearing with the addition of a 6th cog, would greatly help in completing the touring package, if TVS ever takes inspiration from this modded anomaly.
