TVS Apache 200 Launch Confirmed For November 2015

TVS Apache 180 ABS Test Ride Review

TVS will finally launch the new generation Apache 200 in November this year taking styling cues from the Draken concept and improved performance from a 200cc single-cylinder engine.

The Apache 200 takes inspiration from the Draken X21 concept & gets a sharp styling

One of the most popular performance motorcycles in the country, the TVS Apache is all set to move up to the next generation (X21) with the launch of the new ‘Apache 200’ scheduled for November this year, as per recent reports. The TVS Apache 200 has been a long awaited product in the pipeline, glimpses of which were first showcased in the form of the Draken X21 concept at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. The concept will be lending several design cues to the new TVS flagship including sharp character lines, an aggressive stance, all digital instrument console, whereas LED DRLs and split seats will also make it to the production model.

While the outgoing TVS Apache RTR Apache is available in 160cc and 180cc engine options, the new Apache 200 (could be called RTR 200) is rumoured to be using a rebored version of the 180cc single-cylinder engine that will come equipped with liquid-cooling and fuel-injection and is said to produce in excess of 20 BHP of power, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Other mechanical upgrades on the new Apache include fatter telescopic front forks and a monoshock setup at the rear that was also showcased on the Draken concept.

Braking performance will come from disc brakes at the front and rear, while dual channel ABS will be offered as optional on the 2016 TVS Apache 200. The Indian bikemaker will also upgrad to soft compound Michelin tyres in favour of improved road grip complementing the higher power output. The chassis though is said to be the same underpinning the current Apache series, but gets tweaks for improved handling and high speed stability although rumours suggest it could get a trellis frame. In terms of pricing, TVS will be positioning the new Apache 200 very competitively with the base price expected to be under the Rs. 1 lakh mark (ex-showroom).

The Apache 200 will rival the Pulsar AS 200, KTM Duke 200, Mahindra Mojo & the likes
