TVS First EV Launch By March 2020

TVS will get us a new EV which might be based on the Creon electric scooter.

The battery pack will have a range of 80 km and will charge up to 80 percent in an hour

Officials at TVS have confirmed at the Full Year 2019 Earnings Conference Call that the first electric product from the company should arrive in the current financial year. TVS has also invested heavily in electric technology and more details about their first EV would be given closer to the launch.

The Creon concept electric scooter was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and was loaded with technology. For starters, the scooter came with smart connected technology that was jointly developed with Intel. It came with a colour TFT instrument cluster that supported navigation and geo-fencing. These features were added to the basic features like speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meter and battery charge.

The scooter also came with some unique features like regenerative braking, park assist, cloud connectivity, three riding modes and anti-theft. Looking at the physical aspect of the scooter, the concept scooter came with diamond-cut alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, traditional front forks, offset rear monoshock, all-LED lights, large under seat storage and a USB charger. All these features are expected to be retained on the production-spec model too.

The scooter will be able to do 0-60 km/hr in about 5.1 seconds thanks to the electric motor that generates 12 kW. The battery pack consists of three lithium-ion batteries that can be charged up to 80 percent in an hour. It also has a range of 80 km on a single charge, which does not seem like much. The production-spec model of the Creon will get disc brakes at both the ends but will get single-channel ABS only.
