Volkswagen Tiguan 5-Seater To Relaunch In India With Facelift

Volkswagen India to relaunch Tiguan in facelifted avatar and many changes.

The 5-seater Tiguan will be positioned under the Allspace

With BS6 transition, the German carmaker has made a lot of changes in their lineup. Firstly, they have discontinued all diesel-powered cars. VW has also launched new models like Tiguan Allspace and T-Roc.

Now with the introduction of 7-seater Tiguan Allspace, they discontinued the regular model. The smaller 5-seater Tiguan was phased out from their lineup well before the BS6 transition happened.

People assumed that the smaller SUV won’t relaunch. However, Volkswagen has some smart tricks up their sleeves. The company is planning to reintroduce the 5-seater Tiguan in India. It will be launched in its facelifted avatar.

Recently they teased the Tiguan facelift globally. The same model will be coming to India soon after its global debut. However, it will get some major updates compared to the outgoing car.

Volkswagen Tiguan 5-Seater will now get a 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol 150 HP BS6 engine. It will be a front-wheel drive version, no AWD on offer. This will make it much more affordable than the outgoing diesel AWD model.

In terms of visual changes, the facelift will get revised front profile. New grille, revised bumpers and tweaked headlights. Similar changes for the rear profile.

The interior of the pre-facelift car looks a bit dated, Volkswagen will make some fresh changes to it. There will be new features on offer too.

VW will assemble it in India. To keep the price in check, the Tiguan facelift CKD kits will be assembled alongside the Allspace in Chakan plant, near Pune. The new price is expected to be Rs. 23-26 lakhs (ex-showroom).

The 5-seater Tiguan will undercut the Allspace with a big margin. The latter is priced at Rs. 33.12 lakhs (ex-showroom).
