Volvo, the Swedish car manufacturer has been famous since decades for its thoughtful and world-class safety features committed towards public safety. Their vision is that no one will be seriously injured or killed in a new Volvo by 2020. Their latest launch, the XC90 carries the same vision forward with Volvo’s improved ‘IntelliSafe’ that provides convenience and peace of mind all the time.

The host of safety features that are offered in the Volvo XC90 sets it apart from any other SUV in the market. The car gets Adaptive Cruise Control, 360 degree camera, Active High Beam, Park Assist Pilot, Blind Spot Information, Lane Departure Warning, Pedestrian Detection and Forward Collision Warning that are available in different packages. The whole construction is done using lightweight and high density steel that takes up 80 percent of the car’s actual weight, in order to keep the passengers inside safe.

Recently, the Volvo XC90 was honoured by the IIHS’s (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) ‘Top Safety Pick Plus’, giving the SUV the highest possible safety rating. The ‘City Safety’ feature is simply unparalleled because of its advanced pedestrian detection and auto braking system that recognises the pedestrian on the street and keeps the driver informed. If the driver is not responsive, the car applies the brake by itself in order to prevent any collision with the pedestrian who might come in front of the car, unknowingly.

The Volvo XC90 was launched in India this May, with a price tag of Rs. 64.9 lakhs for the Momentum variant and Rs. 77.9 lakhs for the Inscription trim (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The vehicle is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo D5 diesel engine, pumping out 225 HP and 470 Nm that is routed to all the four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Volvo XC90 can manage a top speed of 230 km/hr. If you are looking for an ultra-safe SUV for you and your family, look no further.
