Yamaha Assembles The R25 In Just 3 Minutes

u

The Yamaha YZF-R25 seems in no mood of slowing down be it on the track, sales chart or even the assembly line. While the bike has proved its quickness on the tarmac, it seems to be equally fast on the assembly line as well. According to a statement made by a company official, it takes just 3 minutes to roll out an R25 off the assembly line at Yamaha’s Pulogadung plant located in East Jakarata. To put things into perspective, by the end of this article a brand new Yamaha R25 would have been rolled off the assembly line.

As commendable as it is, the Yamaha representative also clarified that it is only the process at the assembly and not the production of raw materials that is completed in the record time of three minutes. Nonetheless, putting together an engine, chassis and a body in harmony in such a short period of time only goes out to showcase the engineering prowess of the Japanese automaker as well as the skilled work force of Indonesia.

The Yamha R25 is powered by a 249cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin, DOHC, 8-valve engine that produces 36 PS of power at 12,000 RPM and 22.6 Nm of torque at 10,000 RPM, paired to a 6-speed transmission. The bike comes with a high compression ratio of 11.6:1 and uses DiASil (die-cast aluminium silicon) cylinders which results in better dissipation of heat as well as are light in weight. Suspension duties are performed by 41 mm telescopic front forks and a monocross setup at the rear.

Easily one of the most highly anticipated launches in the country, Yamaha has been dealing with an overwhelming demand in Indonesia where the bike is being manufactured and will be exported to several other markets including Japan and India. Expected sometime in 2015, the R25 will lock horns with the Honda CBR300R, KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the likes in the segment. The R25 retails at Rs. 2.7 lakhs (Indian equivalent) in Indonesia and could see a similar pricing here as well. Check out the R25 in action on the assembly line below.
