Tata Indigo e-CS Returns 25 KMPL

Tata Motors has launched the Indigo e-CS VX, which delivers an ARAI certified mileage of 25 kmpl. The most fuel efficient sedan in the country is now powered by the new CR4 Common Rail Diesel engine. The 1396 cc motor produces 70 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 140 NM of torque between 1800-3000 RPM. The company is said to have improved the gear ratios and reduced the weight of the car by close to 10 kgs. The Tata Indigo e-CS VX is also available with a petrol heart. Both the engines are compliant with BSIV emission norms.

The Tata Indigo e-CS VX is priced at Rs. 5.8 lakhs for the CR4 diesel engine while the e-CS GVX is priced at Rs. 4.97 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi), for the MPFi petrol engine. Tata Motors offers 18 months, unlimited mileage warranty on the e-CS. The Indigo e-CS VX features 14-inch alloys, turn indicators on outside rear view morrors, satin finish front grille and headlamps, chrome inserts on the rub rails, dual-tone beige interiors, electrically operated outside rear view mirrors, wood finish center console, rear seat center armrest, ABS, keyless entry, Bluetooth connectivity, power steering, power windows and a new instrument cluster with chrome rings.

    There were days when Tata Indigo CS TDI LX version used to be available for 5.5 Lakhs on Road.

    Now the light weight ( trimmed down ) versions with added cosmetics is priced at around 6.8 Lakhs on Road. I am aware that it is Tata’s common rail diesel engine, and all other additions. But still such a price hike in a short period of time is something difficult to digest for a Tata product.

    Why am i not able to see any 4 plus year old Tata Indigo’s , Indica’s, Safari’s on road but can see Hyundai Accent, Honda’s, Maruti Suzuki cars ( both petrol and diesels )… Tata needs to think and re-visit their products and price them correctly rather than pricing them high with some marketing gimmicks…

      Auto Analyst, instead Tata Motors could have plonked the Quadrajet engine in the Indigo e-CS.

    advise to Tata: please focus on quality. have you seen old Indicas and Indigos. they’re fit to be scrapped. I have a 5 year-old Marina, and every year, there’s some niggling problem. The latest is that the car is ‘leaking’ in the monsoons….guess the amount they spend on ads, if they spend on QC, Indian car industry will gain respect.

      Neha, they have improved quality significantly in the Vista and Manza. Don’t know about the e-CS though.
