2013 Audi R8 Facelift

Audi has launched the 2013 R8 in India today, offering it in three versions – V8 Coupe, V10 Coupe and V10 Spyder. The updated Audi R8 is priced at Rs. 1.34 crore for the base V8 variant, Rs. 1.57 crore for the V10 variant, while the top of the line R8 Spyder has been priced at Rs. 1.73 crore (all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi). The vehicle has been brought via the CBU route and the German automaker has gone into aggression mode, with two launches and opening of one dealership within just three weeks of the new year.

The 2013 Audi R8 gets many improvements all around. The company hasn’t changed the design as the super car continues to look stunning despite being six years old now. Minor exterior updates include tweaked lights, grille, bumpers, rear diffuser and bigger wheels. The interiors get minimal changes including re-designed console and new leather seats while the biggest update is the new 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox. With the improved transmission, the R8 shaves off 0.3 seconds from its 0-100 km/hr time.

Power comes in from the existing V8 and V10 engines. The 4.2-litre V8 engine in the Audi R8 produces 424 BHP of power and 430 Nm of torque. This engine ensure the R8 sprints from 0 – 100 km/hr in 4.3 second with the top speed being 300 km/hr. The V10 powered Audi R8 uses a 5.2-litre engine which belts out 518 BHP of power and 530 Nm of torque. This motor propels the R8 V10 to 100 km/hr from a standstill in just 3.6 seconds, with the top whack being 314 km/hr. The Audi R8 has always been popular and the updated model accentuates the desirability factor even further.
