Pulsar 220 vs Hero Karizma R

Bajaj launched the Pulsar in 2001, Hero launched the Karizma in 2003 and since then, both these bikes have fought close battles just like Pepsi fights Coke and Apple is fighting Samsung. This battle lost significance after Hero stopped updating the Karizma, the last major update in the last decade to the R was never because in 2007, all it got was new stickers. After 11 years, Hero did give a big update to the Karizma R, the first time in the life of the motorcycle did it get any mechanical changes and all that put it straight in line against the Pulsar 220.

The Pulsar 220, a motorcycle which made its debut in fuel-injected form in 2007, was given a shot in the arm when Bajaj dropped FI in lieu of a cheaper carb, pricing the bike aggressively and proudly proclaiming it to be the fastest Indian. The Pulsar 220F was launched in 2009 and the company discontinued the Pulsar 200 the very next month of launching the carbureted 220. In the past 5 years, the Pulsar 220 hasn’t got any mechanical changes although Bajaj has kept improving the bike slowly and silently.
