The 2020 Royal Enfield Meteor has been spotted ahead of its launch in India.

The Meteor is based on RE’s J-series modular platform

Royal Enfield is readying a new motorcycle which is called Meteor and the same has been spied undisguised for the very first time. The new motorcycle is expected to replace the Thunderbird range in the company’s portfolio. While it gets a fresher design, the Meteor retains the cruiser body style.

The Royal Enfield Meteor has been internally codenamed J1C0. It is based on the company’s J-series modular architecture and a lot of upcoming motorcycles like the new Bullet and Classic will get the J-series underpinnings too.

Technical specifications of the Royal Enfield Meteor aren’t known yet but it will get a new engine with capacity ranging anywhere between 346cc to 499cc. The new BS6 engine will be different from the current engine and the Meteor will be the first motorcycle to get the new engine.

The motorcycle gets a round tail lamp, single-pod instrument cluster and circular turn indicators. The Meteor also gets alloy wheels and a chunky rear tyre. The launch time frame isn’t known yet but it is expected to hit the markets very soon with an expected starting price of around Rs. 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
