2021 Hyundai Custo Patent
The front profile of the car has a lot of styling elements

Patent images of the 2021 Hyundai Custo have surfaced online. Slated for the Chinese market and to be launched eventually in other Asian nations, the MPV shares the platform of the fourth-generation Kia Carnival.

Upfront, it has a large radiator grille similar to the one seen on the 2022 Tucson, and slim LED headlights with DRLs, connected by a chrome strip. On either side of the front bumper sit the fog lamp housing, while the air dam is wider, but rather slim and there is no skid plate.

The side view makes it clear that the Hyundai Custo and Kia Carnival share the same platform, for they look to have very similar wheelbases, while overhangs are pretty much the same as well. Interestingly, the Hyundai Custo patent model sports the same alloy wheels as the model spotted in the real world last year.

At the back, the MPV has a large tailgate, sharp and detailed lighting units that are connected at the top through a light strip, while the not-so-large bumper houses a skid plate.

There are differences to the model seen in China and the one in the patent images. Note that the front bumper has an indent that connects the fog lamps, while the tail lights are slightly different as well.

No interior image is available for now, but, being a Hyundai product, the MPV will come with loads of latest features and connectivity options, while there will be different seating configurations on offer as well.

To be manufactured by Beijing Hyundai, the car will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor putting out 237 BHP and 353 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

It is not yet clear if Hyundai will bring the Custo to India, but if it does, the MPV might be priced below the Carnival sold here.
