2021 Maruti Celerio Spotted While On Test Runs

The development mule does not give much away in terms of details

2021 Maruti Celerio has been spotted on test once again ahead of the car’s launch that is expected to take place early next year.

Arguably, these pictures provide the most clear view of how big the hatchback has grown with respect to the first generation model.

Internally codenamed “YNC”, the car will be based on Maruti Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform and it looks like it will have a high ground clearance and a longer wheelbase as well.

Upfront, the grille can be spotted with a trim piece (possibly in chrome) that connects the halogen headlights.

The air dam below is smaller and it looks like, on the production version, a small portion of it will be blocked off, while still visually looking big, flanked by the fog lights.

Further, the 2021 Maruti Celerio spotted testing had alloy wheels, ORVMs with indicators, while at the rear there is also a wiper blade. Due to it being well camouflaged, we cannot make anything more other than the fact that the rear bumper will be pretty sizeable.

Earlier, we have also spotted the car’s interior (read here) and the 2021 Celerio will come with a revised dashboard, steering wheel and of course, there will be a touchscreen infotainment system as well.

Other features likely to be offered on the car include keyless entry, steering mounted controls and safety-wise, it will get dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, high-speed alert system, among others.

Powering the new-generation Celerio will likely be a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine putting out 67 PS and 90 Nm, while the option of a larger 83 HP 1.2-litre motor offering cannot be ruled out either.

Maruti will also launch a petrol-CNG powertrain variant of the hatchback, while transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.
