The 2022 BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe will be made on the same manufacturing line as the i4

BMW has revealed the second-generation 4-Series Gran Coupe, for the 2022 model year, that looks almost identical to the pure-electric i4 in design.

The 4-door coupe has sharper styling following the German brand’s latest design language and thus, retains the controversial radiator grille.

Upfront, it features bold lines and surfaces and slim LED headlights with DRLs, while along the sides, it gets frameless windows and flush-fitting handles. At the rear, the roofline culminates in a pronounced lip spoiler on the boot lid that splits the darkened LED tail lamps.

M Sport models get unique design elements, while M Carbon exterior package can be specified as an option along with model-specific M Performance Parts to give the car a more sportier outlook.

Measuring 4783 mm long, 1852 mm wide, 1442 mm long and with a wheelbase of 2856 mm, the 2022 BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe is larger than its predecessor and that should translate into more interior room.

Featuring a modern dashboard, that does not look striking, the new 4-Series Gran Coupe comes with tonnes of equipment including 8.8-inch touchscreen, 5.1-inch display in the instrument cluster, BMW Maps, smartphone connectivity, remote software upgradation, and more.

As ever, with a BMW car, there are many optional extras like BMW Live Cockpit Professional (features a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen), BMW Individual leather trim options, M Sport Package Pro and so on, on offer.

The M440i xDrive Gran Coupe and the diesel variants get 48 V mild hybrid technology, while all the engines come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission calibrated specifically for each model.

BMW claims to have tuned the chassis and suspension specifically for the model. While the standard car comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, the M440i xDrive Gran Coupe gets 18-inch jobbies.

Over and above the standard safety systems, some 40 driver-assistance functions will also be available with the car that will be launched in overseas markets in November this year.
