The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza has received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP ahead of its official launch. The updated compact SUV earned the highest rating in both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP), highlighting improvements in its overall crash safety performance.
According to the crash test results released by Bharat NCAP, the Brezza scored 30.41 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 43 out of 49 points for child occupant protection. The assessment was carried out on the ZXI+ variant equipped with the 1.5-litre petrol engine and 6-speed automatic transmission, although the rating applies to the entire model range.
In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Brezza scored 14.41 out of 16 points. Protection for the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet was rated as ‘good’, while the chest and tibiae received an ‘adequate’ rating. For the front passenger, all major body regions were assessed as receiving ‘good’ protection except the tibiae, which were rated ‘adequate’.
The SUV achieved a full 16 out of 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. Bharat NCAP also reported ‘good’ protection for the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis in the side impact assessments. The vehicle also received an ‘OK’ verdict in the side pole impact test.
For child occupant safety, the Brezza recorded the maximum 24 out of 24 points in the dynamic assessment and a full 12 out of 12 points for child restraint system (CRS) installation.
During the tests, rear-facing child seats were used for both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old crash test dummies. Both dummies received full scores in the frontal and side impact evaluations. However, the SUV scored 7 out of 13 points in the vehicle assessment section, resulting in an overall child occupant protection score of 43 out of 49.
The tested ZXI+ automatic variant was equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), seat belt reminders for all seating positions, front seatbelt pretensioners and ISOFIX child seat anchorages for the rear outboard seats. Bharat NCAP has confirmed that the published safety rating is applicable across all variants of the 2026 Brezza.
The updated Brezza’s five-star Bharat NCAP result places it among the highest-rated compact SUVs currently tested under India’s domestic crash safety assessment programme.
